Another side effect of a Birth Control Drug:
Class Action Suit Says Depo-Provera Birth Control Drug Causes Osteoporosis
By Gudrun Schultz

December 21, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Women are suing the makers of Depo-Provera birth control, saying it has caused them severe bone loss leading to osteoporosis.

A $700-million class-action lawsuit has been filed against the drug company Pfizer, an international pharmaceutical conglomerate that also produces the prescription drugs Viagra, Zoloft and Celebrex. Pfizer has come under fire in the past for alleged lethal side effects stemming from the use of the anti-depressant Zoloft, and the company currently faces a number of lawsuits in the U.S. over Celebrex, which is alleged to cause heart attacks in users.

Depo-Provera is also frequently prescribed to endometriosis sufferers who are anxious to preserve their fertility so that they may have children. This disease is very difficult to treat and too many doctors lacking either the surgical skill, expertise or maybe just the needed extra time in the operating room, as is the case here in Canada, opt instead to prescribe medication to their patients. The trouble with this approach is that the benefits do not last long as the agonizing pain returns shortly after the woman discontinues medication. Moreover, this information reveals the long term side effects may be irreversible. Women who suffer with this debilitating illness deserve better; at the very least, they deserve to know beforehand the long-term side effects.

There are good grounds here for a class action law suit as a lot of innocent women have been exploited for profit.
