I’m having trouble finding great Catholic books on the forgiveness of sins. It seems prots always wrote about this, and Jesus’ mercy. The atonement — Christ’s death for the forgiveness of our sins, is central to the Mass, but not so much in Catholic literature. Please suggest old Catholic books on this topic.

Fulton J Sheen’s THE LIFE OF CHRIST, esp. the chapter on John 8
Jesus’ forgiving of the woman caught in adultery.

The books by Polish priest S.C. Biela are really good for this…

Not sure how old and classic is defined, however, Dr Hahn’s “Lord, Have Mercy” is a good book
