Hello,

For the past several Octobers, my sisters and I have read a work of classic horror. We started with Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein”, then read Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”, then read Robert Louis Stevenson’s “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”, and most recently read Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”.

Of all the books so far, my favorite has been Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein”. Does anyone have recommendations on what we should read this year?

Thank you!

If you’re reading classic horror, then definitely you must include something by Poe.

He did not complete a book, so just get a good compendium of his tales.

It used to be a custom in Baltimore for people to visit his grave on Halloween. It’s in a churchyard downtown and they would have a guy in the adjoining church dressed like the Phantom of the Opera playing spooky organ music. We went once. I don’t know if they still do that.
