There has been some discussion within our parish about cleaning the sacred cups after Mass. Does adding a drop of water to the sacred blood make it no longer the sacred blood, but merely wine.

Any precious blood remaining in the chalice should be consumed before the chalice is cleansed.

Water would have to be added to such a point that the accident of wine is no longer present and even then should be consumed.

No. Any precious blood in the cup should be consumed by the person offering the cup. The cups then should be purified by a priest or decaon (as allowed by the Ordinary).
There should be no traces of the precious blood when the cups are finally cleaned and put away.

Thank you. Those of us at one Mass have been blamed for something we were not informed of.

No.

And such discussions should take place with your pastor if you are unsure how to clean and care for sacred vessels.

the same thing applies to holy water, it becomes purified and the entirety of the contents become holy water, the Same with the Blood of Christ,
saying it will change back is saying that blood can change into water,
plus, the Blood of Christ is completely Divine,
no traces should be left,

Makes sense. It is an expensive installation I am sure. In early times, there was a bowl near the alter where the chalice was washed, and the the water was poured outside. Missions are usually on a tight budget!

We have one of those. It was installed the time ot was built. Very recent about 1989
