Have you and your wife tried the balance sheet method as described in my earlier response above? Might do a world of good – and much more logical than a mere coin toss!…Not here to argue the issues again, just seeking concrete suggestions for handling impasses.
It seems to me as if there’s always some hope in a marriage, especially after all the years you’ve been together. Our Lord will always be there to help in every relationship, but we first must let Him fully into our hearts and try to follow the old but very useful adage, WWJD, as much as humanly possible… Kindness and forgiveness, even when it seems like it just isn’t “worth it” any longer, can go a long, long way to bringing about much happier times in your marriage. When things have gotten rough in my marriage, I’ve tried to live by the “love thy neighbor as thyself” commandment and just considered my husband my neighbor since there were some days I really didn’t even want to consider him anything more than that, especially not my spouse! Amazingly, it has helped. But please - read over the balance sheet method, too, and don’t give up.
Prayers for you, your wife, and your family.
