Why do some priest’s have a Mass of Jesus the High Priest (the night before the burial )and in addition have a Mass of Christian Burial and other priest’s don’t? GBU! 🙂

The Mass the night before the funeral is the Mass of Transferal. The priest (or deacon) is brought to the church from the funeral home, hence the term “transferal,” and laid out in the church during the night following the Mass. The ones I have attend have an open casket during the Mass. In fact if I recall I think the casket is open for the funeral as well, but it has been a few years since I’ve been to a priest’s funeral.

Votive Masses from the Roman Missal 3rd Edition of 2011

Page 10 - Votive Mass of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Eternal High Priest usually said on Thursdays (Ferial (daily) days in which you would normally repeat the Sunday Mass) in commemoration of the Institution of the Eucharist and Holy Orders. Also an option for the vigil funeral Mass of priests and bishops. (unsure about the funerary procedures for deacons)

I hope that was not indicative of something…😃
Only of the love which those who knew his and for him and of the love which he had showed to them. Not bad for an "ordinary’ parish priest!
