This page shows the Brigittine family tree. They were founded as per revelations to St. Birgitta or Bridget of Sweden as a double order with a prioress ruling over both houses. The superior wore a black habit with white veil, which is why St. Bridget is often portrayed wearing such. The grey is for mourning the Sacred Passion, and the nuns wear the Crown of the Five Holy Wounds. The monks wear an emblem over their hearts representing the same.
