But you’d never see anything this deliberately sacrilegious. These people put alot of effort into mocking Christ’s sacrifice; I’m certain this is the exact production Satan would put on if he wanted to mock the Eucharist.
I dunno. Seems to me the slightest perpetration consitutes the offense.

I’m truly stun - I’m really crying, I can help to think but to throw my self on the floor at the sight of the Tabernacle along. I can’t believe it clowns and Demons in church.

I believe this is from the Trinity Cathedral clown Mass that took place a few years ago (I didn’t click on the link, but I’m assuming it’s from that event because that’s certainly the most public Clown Mass I’ve ever heard of). They received a lot of well deserved criticism from many people because of that. I will say that I’ve never actually witnessed anything like this, and that when I’ve been to Trinity I’ve never seen that. They did give a reason for why they had such a Mass if I remember correctly; something along the lines of clowns being the people who aren’t taken seriously, and we need to reach out to them. It actually did all tie into living out the Gospel message…I really think they could’ve tried to convey that in a better way than having everyone dress up as clowns…to me it seems like people would be thinking of it as entertainment, rather than listening to the message behind it.

It didn’t seem like a Mass at all but a Church is sacred it’s the home of God, nothing in church should be taken lightly.

The message behind it was that Christ’s sacrifice is to be mocked. There is nothing redeeming about prancing around the altar mocking the sacred rites of the Church, which is exactly what the video shows.

Always remember, though that while pictures can not lie, people can lie using pictures. Giving the wrong information about a photo has been used many times and much of what we read on the internet connected to these photos are no more reliable that the tabloids.

This may sound a bit weird to some but I thought I would say it anyways. It’s not like anyone knows me on the forum anyways.

The whole Clown thing at Mass or any other church really worries me for a number of reasons. I have found through my own experiences in the past, as well as I have read many interesting books and articles how when people who used certain Hallucinogens, practice opening Chakras,or Near death experiences and go into a deep state they often see Clowns. That may sound really strange but it is my experience that these entities are either not real at all or controlled by a force other than God.There is book titled The Spirit Molecule that goes into great depth of peoples experinces while under the influence of DMT.No matter what part of the world or culture people were from, many of them saw Clowns while on this powerful drug.

Thanks for letting me share that little tidbit. You can call me crazy if you want:thumbsup: I don’t mind:). At one time I may have been. Then I found Jesus 😉

I despise, detest, and abhor clowns. Always hated them, even as a little child. I would have ran as fast as I could!

I don’t get it. What is the point of this? Is it done in a mocking manner or is there actually a theological point to this?

I don’t get it either. Why? Why are these people doing this? Really…is there a reasoning at all, or are they just bored?

Again, I didn’t say I agreed with it. But in case nobody believes me, here is the explanation from Trinity stating their reasons for having it. As far as I know, this is the ONLY explanation that any church has given for holding any Eucharistic celebration like this.

From that link:
Dear Parish Family,
On May 22, Trinity Sunday, we will have a Clown Eucharist, “doing church” as if we were a circus come to town. We will celebrate the Eucharist and learn about the basic traditional outline for Eucharistic worship by experiencing it and participating in it from a new perspective.
It will likely be a surprise to see clowns inside Trinity Church, but think about it this way: how we perceive the world in light of our relationship with Jesus could rightly be called foolish. Jesus looked at things in a new and strange way - a foolish way. But, as St. Paul said, the foolishness of God is wiser than the wisdom of the world. Paul declared himself a fool for Christ’s sake.
He held that in common with a Trinity clergyman of years ago, who I understand would walk up and down Wall Street at noon carrying a sandwich board printed with the words: “I’m a fool for
Christ.” The back of his board read, “Whose fool are you?”
We are all fools of one sort or another. God’s foolishness is light, joy, and life. Man’s foolishness is darkness, despair, and death. In the clown, God has shot from his cannon for us a vivid symbol of divine foolishness.
Clowns represent the underdog, the lowly, the remnant people. Their foolishness is a call to unpretentiousness. They take incredible risks - balancing on tight ropes, eating fire, keeping silent, being poked by others, or getting soaked in water. Clowns are parables in themselves, spending great amounts of energy uncovering small things, then showing forth the hidden treasure of life (like the kingdom of God) and, surprisingly to us, giving their most cherished possessions to others.
In rodeos, clowns protect people. In other scenarios, the clown may be down and out, but he is also continually raised up by a spirit within, lifting our own spirits as he overcomes life’s stumbling blocks. Clowns look at the world, like parables, inside out and upside down: the last shall be first, the smallest seed is the greatest tree, and those who work all day get paid the same as those who worked an hour. To the world, this is foolishness.
Yet foolishness—the foolishness of God—is wiser than man. It brings light, laughter, joy, renewal, salvation, and life. Whose fool are you?
Years ago, I saw a film created by the Rev. Floyd Shaffer on clown ministry and worship. I hope you will find the opportunity to read his recent book, If I Were a Clown, prior to our worship together on May 22.
All are invited to come in clown dress, big hats, floppy shoes or some sort of foolish garb. Those watching on the Internet might even be foolish enough to put on some white face or a big grease-paint smile as we worship God and learn about the structure of the Eucharist by being the circus which came to town and to church on that day. I look forward to worshiping with you.
Faithfully,
Jim
The only fool here is Jim and the people that buy that load of bull. It’s disrespectful to say the least to treat their so-called “eucharist” like that. How shameful. I am ashamed that so-called christians would ever act that way. It honestly makes me want to cry that they would dare offend the Lord in that manner.

Fools indeed.

I thought Satan was supposed to be good at deception, but only an imbecile could be deceived by this.

I’m sure they could find a justification for any kind of blasphemous behavior. If there was a special service where they trampled the “eucharist” underfoot, they’d justify it as a logical extension of Christ’s humility.

Maybe a read of the chapter of “Pope Paul’s New Mass” by the late Michael Davies is called for. He gives several extended quotations from such goings-on, none Anglican, all RC, all abuses.

FWIW - Terence Cardinal Cooke is up for beatification. So Rome clearly does not consider the Clown Mass at which he presided objectionable. There is a description of that CM in Davies, & a reference to it in this account of an earlier abomination, by a Father English, in 1975:
  • A CIRCUS MASS AT HOLY TRINITY CHURCH:
When the Archbishop criticized the event,
    Fr. English responded

**that the very same “circus Mass” had been **performed in New York City
at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in the presence of Terence Cardinal Cooke.
Hearing this, Archbishop Baum took no further action in this matter and
Fr. English remained as pastor of Holy Trinity another seven years.
There are things told in Davies’ book to make one despair - the invalid Masses, the irreverence to the Eucharist, make Anglicans with their disorders look scruple-ridden by comparison. So maybe we should put our own house in order before criticising them.

It is after all Rome which has extended the reception of the Bl. Eucharist to schismatics. It was JP2 - & not an Abp. of Canterbury - who allowed members of the Polish National Catholic Church to receive the Eucharist, & JP2 who allowed, sponsored, & invented the Assisi abomination of 1986. The rot in the CC comes from the very top, as high as is humanly possible - not from our Anglican brethren.

The picture came directly from the video posted by the original poster. If it is indeed the service in Episcopal church, the link you gave is wrongly talking about Catholic.

So, I was wondering what church it is.
That link says the BOTTOM picture (of the mime) is from a Catholic church; it does not give a source for the TOP picture (which is of the Episcopal service).

It is the foolishness of men to call their foolishness the foolishness of God.
