I found the Christian Motorcycle Association is a good way for me to evangelize. I like motorcycles and was a member of an M/C but the police kept harassing me. It was a clean and sober M/C. That and AA has helped me regain control of my life and renew my faith in God.

Then I went to fundamentalist church for awhile I found they were to demanding. They also kept downgrading other faiths? The preacher seemed more concerned about money than salvation? They left out all the sacraments? They supported Zionism, degraded Islam and said Catholics are idol worshipers?

Being raised in a strong Catholic Family I felt this was wrong after awhile and returned to my Catholic Beliefs. My 3 children are very active in the Catholic faith and felt that it was wrong for me having raised them Catholic to go to another church. I did learn somethings from the fundamentalist that I had lost along the way. I did need the revival and to study the Word but missed the sacraments and the dedication of the Parish Priest to his congregation.

I feel now CMA is a good way to evangelize to others about the Bible and the Word. Also to show the fundamentalist that a Catholic knows the Bible and it’s teachings as well as them. A Catholic can spread the Word and bring people to a belief in God too. Sometime we conduct small services at sectarian events but I think God accepts and expects that from a Catholic.

I thought CMA was the Country Music Association. The CMA awards!

I have freinds in the CMA, including a cousin, they do OK work but it would be nice to have Catholic Christ Centered Motorcylce Ministry. If the guys you ride with are OK with your Catholicism that is cool.

There is thread were some have talked about starting a Catholic Riding club. forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=115322&highlight=Catholic+motorcycle+club

I live in Kansas City. The Catholic Church doesn’t have a riding group here. CMA is accepted world wide. We are not a church. We only try to put out the basic message Of God.

I went to St Viators class of 68. I remember Ted Nuggent class of 67. Then Vietnam class of 69-70.

I live south of you, though I’m a veteran, I didn’t attend classes in SE Asia, served 72 - 80, Ft Hood with the 1st Cav/13th Sig and Germany 1/41 FA 56th FA Bde Pershing. Been riding MCs since I learned to ride at Ft Hood on a CL 350, currently without a ride since my Shadow got re-poed a year and half ago. While in Germany I rode with a German/American club but was far from being a clean sober club. Myself, I’m involved with Celebrate Recovery a Christ centered recovery program.

AA is an accepted recovery program. The Church does approve all of its literature. CMA is already an approved ministry in Kansas City that is important.

Couple quick things to say…
CMA is Christian Motorcyclists Association, not Motorcycle. Machines can’t be Christian, only their riders. Not a big deal, however when one is dealing with the secular world all these little things matter.
There are many Christian Ride groups and Motorcycle Ministry groups throughout the world, CMA is the largest and is very specific about being non-denominational. I have encountered some people in CMA who were anti-Catholic…mostly because of their misunderstanding of the Church. We have had some good discussions.
CMA serves a definate purpose in the biker community. It is unfortunate that many of the larger denomination churchs have made “bikers” unwelcome…this is part of the reason that CMA states that they are not a church and maintains the strict non-denominational status.
Everyone in my chapter is quite aware of my Catholic status.

Ride safe…

I am Catholic and live in southern North Carolina on the coast just north of Myrtle Beach. I am looking for others with the same faith to ride and share the experience with.
