From a Catholic standpoint, is there anything morally objectionable about unrelated men and women who are not in romantic relationships with each other living together?

(Sorry if this is a redundant thread - I seem to recall seeing one on this subject a long time ago, but my search for it yielded nothing. I’m just idly curious because I recently watched the episode of Community where Annie moves in with Troy and Abed, which in turn got me thinking about Three’s Company…)

The staff apologist’s at Catholic Answers have addressed this question in the past:

Nothing morally objectionable if the relationship is not romantic in nature. I rented a room from an older lady when I was forced to spend an extended amount of time in Florida a few years ago. It was nice to be in a nice house on the lake and it saved me a whole lotta money.

.
If a potential spouse finds out about this, they might drop you immediately, thinking you were not chaste then. If you would like to marry a Christian particularly this could especially give you a problem.

I disagree with this completely. If you have a roommate situation with people of both genders and there are clear boundaries set up front, there should be no problem or issues at all.

If a future potential spouse has a problem with it, that person may not be the right person for marriage. It would different if you were roommates with one person of the opposite gender and you had a crush on them, wanted to see how things went, that could be a problem.
