Coerced Abortion

I found two web sites with information on coersed, or forced abortions in the USA. I’ll give you some of the statistics and ask if anyone knows the credibility of these sites. These statistic are stagering.
64% of all abortions are coerced
79% of all abortions are not given alternatives
84% found counseling inadeguate
67% received no counseling
31% had health complications
65% are clinically depressed
3.5 % higher risk of death
These are both physical and mentally coerced abortions

Teenage girls are at even higher risk, from not only coerced abortions but also sexual abuse.
If these sites are corrrect, or even partially correct, it is apalling, what have we done to our women, God help us.

I don’t think those statistics are particularly accurate; when I searched it into Google, I got a link to this article.

While those sites could have inaccurate information, some (not all) abortions are coerced, most likely by the father (be he a boyfriend or a husband) of the baby or the parents of the mother. It is indeed sad. 😦

Pornography is what we have done to our women.
Exploitation is what we have done to our women.
Contraceptives are what we have done to our women.
Sterilization is what we have done to our women.

We have made them objects, mere toys. We have remove their ‘worth’ and replaced it with their ‘usefulness and beauty’. We have removed their ‘humanity’, and replaced it with their ‘sexuality.’

Women are no longer treasured as they should be, and we teach them that their main worth is how they perform sexually and how appealing they look. So, when something as inconvenient as pregnancy happens, the only logical conclusion is that we cut out the problem, and return them to their proper place as a sexual object…

Our society is disgusting, regardless of the accuracy of those statistics.

While I don’t agree with abortion, surely even you must admit that those statistics look very propagandistic?
 
Oh, Lord. As a psychology researcher, let me tell you, this “research”–basically, a series of vignettes and percentages–would never pass any sort of review. Where’s the sample statistics? Where are the methods?

Good point. One of the sites did not come up. Since I am involved in the prolife movement I am sure I was possibly too quick to accept it.

Oh, I’m sorry. I wasn’t trying to insult you by being sarcastic. Please forgive me - I didn’t intend to offend you. There wasn’t supposed to be any malevolence in that post. I had just assumed that you were taking those statistics as fact, and had glanced over the majority of your post.

I guess I just wasn’t very analytical. I skim-read this thread. How embarrassing. 😊

We have a tremendous problem with sexual slavery and sexual trafficking in this country. Many young girls from other countries end up here, working as prostitutes in hidden brothels called “spas” or “massage parlors” or “dance clubs.” These young women are given contraceptives and when the contraceptives fail, they are taken to Planned Parenthood or other abortion clinics and “cleaned out,” and they are returned to work. An estimated 27 MILLION women are at this moment in sexual slavery. Do we ever hear about this horror? No. Planned Parenthood will not report underage girls being brought in by much older men, although they are bound to do so by law.

These statistics are not surprising to me. Listen to the stories on Silent No More and you will understand.

From my firsthand experience as a sidewalk counselor, I have seen many girls taken into PP by their parents literally gripping their arm and pushing them in.

Coersion comes in many forms-- from literally forcing them in the door to threats from parents and boyfriends of abandoning them, pressure to get an abortion so that the couple isn’t “found out”, threats to employment, etc.

And, yes, as Julianne points out, sex trafficking is a major industry and I am sure the abortionist will come to them in such cases.
 
I found Juliane’s post to be very helpful. I was aware of the sex trafficing, but not the numbers. Since the beginning of Roe the damage to our society has been extensive, to say the least, and women have payed the highest price. Every way you look at it, humans have suffered for an obscure freedom called choice, maybe we need a freedom called responsibility. I find no value only evil, no love only hate in abortion. Thank you Juliane

I too have picketed. And I have also seen parents drag daughters who tried to fight against an abortion. And I noticed smug looks on the moms when their daughters were dragged in. I often wonder what the girl is like now.
