Collect , Prayer over the offering, and prayer after communion question

In My Magnificant it has the prayers for each mass, however on weekdays in ordinary time, the Opening pray, prayer over the offering and prayer after coummion are the same as the sunday before them. for example today is thursday the opening pray was the same as sunday july 8. It is also the same prayer the priest prayed out of the roman missall. Is this correct. i was under the impression each day had different prayers ?

Weekdays in Ordinary Time that don’t have a Saint celebrated on them (a ferial day is what they’re called) do not have proper prayers (propers) for them. The priest is free to use the propers from ANY Sunday in Ordinary Time OR to offer a votive Mass (of St. Joseph, to the Sacred heart, of the Eucharist, of Our Lady, etc.) and use the propers from that.

The “general rule”, if you will, would be to use the propers from the past Sunday, but it need not be followed.
