I attended Mass today at a parish not my own, and was surprised that they took a collection.

Luckily, I had some cash (I don’t always, I’m kind of addicted to my debit card!).

At my home parish, they do not take up collections other than on Sunday.

What about your parish?

We don’t have a collection at regular daily Mass but we do for Holy Days. Perhaps this was done due to the Feast of the Assencion?

perhaps the Holy Day of Ascension was observed today in your diocese or parish. there are usually separate collections for holy days.

Yes, it was a Mass for the Holy Day, I just don’t recall collections at Holy Day Masses at my regular parish.

But, of course, I’m gettin’ old and can barely remember what I had for breakfast!

We had a collection, but then we celebrated Ascension today. We had music too, just like a Sunday Mass except they didn’t have both species.

We had two collections. 🙂

I alternate between two parishes and they both take collections during the daily masses. How else are you going to collect the $2 that go in the basket?

The parish I go to while at work has a collection every day, Monday-Friday, Holy Day or not. Guess that’s just how some parishes do it.

Seven days a week at my parish. All Sunday Masses, and the noon Mass Mon-Sat.

I attended TLM, Missa Cantata, and there was collection like in every Holy Days of obligation. In our diocese the regular celebration will be Sunday, and we will see the Eastern Candle to be extinguished again, but for the TLM the 1960 Calendar is in effect.

In other hand they wont kill you, if you do not donate. I do not have cash with me neither at no time, except a dollar for the kids to donate (I used to give check)

I got tired of writing checks; so put it all in one collection each month. I figure that the parish treasurer can divide it up however is needed.
