So right now im looking at all the catholic colleges and where I want to go…the problem is what do I take in these schools.

My major im hoping is theology and for minor it was going to be sociology. Though im trying to find something that would allow me to work with the holy see.

Another thing im looking for is a good college for liberation theology and a good franciscan community. Im hoping to eventually join their ranks.

Thx in advance and God bless.

If you’re hoping eventually to “join the ranks” of the Franciscans, perhaps you should talk with some of those communities and see what the Franciscan leadership has to say about your college choices – both for where you go and what you major in.

I have several friends who attended the Franciscan University in Stubenville and just absolutely loved it. I don’t know about “liberation” theology, so I can’t say anything about that.

God bless you.

Thx thats one alot of people have told me to look into! I personally think it looks like a good school…my family hahaha is kinda at odds with me heading that far out though.🤷

Why don’t you start with general ed. courses and get them out of the way, while you discern this? Most schools require so many quarter or semester hours of English, Math, Humanities, and Science. You’ll need them where ever you go.

Hmm thats always a possibility but ive had my eyes set on theology for a long time.

How far is too far?

If you’re looking for liberation theology (which isn’t always viewed kindly by some in the Church, including the Vatican), it might be easiest to find that strain of thought available in some Jesuit institutions.

It doesn’t preclude majoring in theology. What she’s saying is that you’ll also need to take those classes to complete the core curriculum at any college. So you could “get them out of the way” at a lower cost while trying to figure out where it would be best to study your more focused course of theology.
