Colyridanism?

A guy ranting the other day accused the Catholic church of Colyridanism (Sp?). I was wondering what that was? And what (if I should have the misforturne to see him again) say to him about that?

And here is an explanation of Collyridianism. Basically, they worshipped Mary, and the Catholic Church told them that they were wrong. It would be awefully funny for the same group (Catholics) who told them that they were wrong and formally excommunicated them to go on practicing the same exact thing. Perhaps your friend should look into who told the Collyridians that they were wrong…
