According to Feminists for Life of America President Serrin Foster, “The ERA, as it was rewritten and reinterpreted by both sides as an implicit right to abortion in 1972, denies the right to life of the next generation. It does nothing to advance the unmet needs of women at highest risk of seeking an abortion, including the poorest among us, women of color, women working to achieve their post-secondary degrees, and working women.”
When I heard Serrin Foster speak, she mentioned that in the 1970s, the women putting forward the ERA were quite fiercely divided on the abortion issue. It’s sad to see that the pro-choice tunnel vision has gotten even worse.

So, women don’t deserve or need equal rights with men? “Interesting”.

Also, an ERA does not intrinsically need to include the issue of abortion, so how it would be written becomes important.

Finally, just to let the reader of this know that I do not discuss political issues for reasons that should be rather obvious.
