I actually think that those for or against gay marriage have somethings in common. Both sides believe that morality transcends beyond law, meaning morality doesn’t equate to legality: those in favor of gay marriage believe that it is moral for people to marry regardless of their orientation thus “there ought to be a law” while those in disfavor of gay marriage believe that marriage is between a man and woman, no matter what the law says. I don’t think either side would want to force upon their views on people, which is why both sides appeal to the government in votes or the courts. Maybe the difference is if mortality is either subjective or objective. If it is purely subjective, then it follows that no man’s morality is greater than another, making this debate pointless since either viewpoint is equal weight, one no more right than the other. If it is objective, then an another morality is more truer than the other.

What do you guys think?

Hi, there.

Homosexual *acts * (not the person; a homosexual is no more as sinful as you are) are objectively grave behavior, per the Catholic Church (and many other Christian and non-Christian faiths).

Pro-gay-marriage advocates are trying to **redefine **what marriage is, which is has always been between a man and woman. Worse, these people are trying to force everyone else (through law and other sanction) to *accept *their redefinition under the guise of sexual discrimination.

If that’s not “forcing your views on other people,” I don’t know what is.

For those who do choose such co-habitation, I do believe it’s the state’s job to ensure that gay people should be granted most of the legal powers that married people have, but there are plenty of laws for these on the books already.

Gay people are looking for recognition, I think. They want to be part of the bigger whole of culture, and I can really understand that. But you can’t game the system to make that happen. We are built by God for specific means with specific jobs. That is an objective statement; else, we would all be born asexual.

That is called “moral relativism,” and it is the primary reason for the culture of death we now live in. “I’m OK - You’re OK” is not morality at all, it is amorality.
If it is objective, then an another morality is more truer than the other.
“More true” is an oxymoron. If a thing is blue, it is “more true” to say that it is green than to say it is orange. But it is not the truth. Green is partially blue (since green is a mixture of blue and yellow), but it is not blue.

Through the Magisterium, Jesus passes down His teachings. The Magisterium doesn’t play with them, or bend them to suit their personal circumstances. The Church holds to the truth even in the face of opposition, and of rationalizations that work well on so many people.

So, who has the better morality, the unchanging Jesus and His Church, or the people who change their minds about morality to agree with what they want to do?

I hope this makes sense; I’m a little foggy right now.

God bless you,

Ruthie
