A recent question on Ask an Apologist asked about receiving Communion from reserved hosts in ones car while listening to the ETWN Mass on the radio or going to Confession by e-Mail. Father Sherpa answered in the negative. It all raised a question in my mind. Is the understanding of the Mass and Sacraments as an action of the community of the Faithful, the appropriate participation by priest or deacon being understood, being replaced by a totally vertical attitude where it is God and the individual alone that counts? It is not a subject that I have heard much about in my parish or in the books I read.
