Communion and Liberation

I have been introduced in conversation to a lay organization begun by an Italian priest entitled, “Communion and Liberation”. Evidently, it is a worldwide apostolate that helps the faithful enliven their daily lives with a more intense committment to acknowledging Christ in their daily life with varied actions taken during the course of the day. This resonates to the likes of “Opus Dei” begun by Jose Maria Escriva of Spain. Anyone familiar with more details on this organization, “Communion and Liberation”?

C&L isn’t bad, however some of its members have been knows to confuse liturgy with personal and private devotion. There was a controversy with this group a while back when they wanted their specific “rite” of saying Mass to be approved as unique in itself.

With that said, Pope St John Paul II was openly supportive of C&L, so interpret that as it is. One remarkable element of the charism of C&L is their Marian devotion, “Come Holy Spirit, Come Through Mary” is on of C&L’s anthems. A devotion to the Blessed Mother of God is a good sign, and my advice to you is to continue on with Communion and Liberation but be weary and remarkable - as I said before, the group isn’t unknown to liturgical controversy.
