HI, I WOULD LIKE TO ASK A QUESTION REGARD STO COMMUNION IN HAND…

During this Pandemic, Our Church (Novus Ordo) announced last March that **
“NO MORE COMMUNION IN HAND”
** for the protection of the Priest and Lay too said by our Bishop via Letter… I have no choice but to follow our Local Church new order.

so it’s been 7 Months, but still I can’t go to TLM due to
No Public Transportation
and I am still Taking Communion in Hand not in Tongue.

My question is:
For the Past 7 Months of taking Communion in Hand, Did I commit Mortal Sin?
-I know it is a Grave Sin that taking Communion in Hand is Forbidden, but it has a Confirmation from the Bishop…

Did I commit Mortal Sin or Not?
I am very confuse.

Thanks for your Help and Advice.

Receiving (not “taking”) Communion in the hand is permitted by the Vatican and by your bishop.
It is NOT a mortal sin in any way, assuming you are in the state of grace when you receive.
The Vatican and your bishop do NOT encourage people to commit mortal sins for months at a time.

I have no idea why you would think it was a mortal sin.

There have been multiple lengthy topics on this subject. You might want to do a forum search.

It’s not a sin.

As a side note, my bishop did the exact opposite; no communion on the tongue.

That seems to be the pattern worldwide.

In our Archdiocese, there doesn’t seem to be an outright ban on COTT but a very strong reminder about charity to others = CITH.

OP, could you have misunderstood? What country are you in?

The Archdiocese of Portland (Oregon) has disallowed parishoners receiving the Host on the tongue during the pandemic, until further notice. It is NOT a mortal sin to receive the Host in the hand, regardless of what your preference might be. If I may be honest, it sounds like you’re being dramatic, even a little scandalous. If your bishop ordered it, it’s allowable under these circumstances.
