That’s absolutely ridiculous and shows a complete misunderstanding how the COVID-19 coronavirus is transmitted. The only additional safety step my church is adding in regards to the washing of the feet is after it’s done the priests will go back in the sacristy to wash their hands and then continue on with the liturgy.

(And of course, those selected to have their feet wash cannot be showing any sign of being physically ill.)
But not complete misunderstanding of how social distancing works. I don’t imagine that a priest can wash the feet of someone six feet away.

Nor can anyone receive Holy Communion remaining six feet away since I guarantee no priest or EMHC will be tossing the Blessed Sacrament to a communicant six or more feet away (or even six inches away).

The point of social distancing is to stay away from strangers who might be infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus. As I pointed out, those whose feet will be washed on Holy Thursday will need to be in good health with no signs of illness.

no symptoms
Please note that “no symptoms” does not equal “not infected”. That’s what they mean by incubation period; the amount of time between exposure and symptoms appearing (if they actually ever do; some never feel sick but are still infected and contagious), which is around 14 days for this virus.
No it’s not. The median time for incubation is less than five days with some people showing symptoms are early as one day and the longest being about 12 days, hence the reason why the quarantine is set at 14 days.

So the public gathering of the faithful itself is part of the problem.

If you read the whole post which I wrote, I did not imply the individuals were not infected. The quote was that some who died went from no symptoms to dead in the matter of a few hours. They were all elderly and in poor health; they may have been infected for a day, or maybe 14 days. No one knows, but the onset of symptoms lead to death within a really short time.

Since the one I replied to was a reply to a post regarding incubation period, I naturally inferred that the reply was related to the other post. In other words I did, in fact, read the whole post and replied according to the way it was written.
