I meant, either way, on hand or tongue, it’s not that important, as I believe it’s what’s in our hearts that makes all the difference when we receive.

When I did take communion, I always took it on the tongue. I believe it is much more respectful that way.

Do you think that the tongue is “cleaner” than the hand?

I don’t know who this is addressed to but I will take a crack at it. At Mass with four kids my mouth would always be cleaner than my hands. Not to mention anyone’s hands I have shared the sign of peace with moments before communion.
We are told to wash our hands before we eat. Especially after things like Mass with my family would entail. I cannot do that before I receive. So, better it go from one hand (the priest) to my tongue rather than his hand to my hand to my tongue.Spiritually, I have just confessed that I believe the Eucharist is the Body of Christ with my “Amen” My hands have done nothing. My mouth has confessed my Lord, has repented for my sins, and has said all the responses in Mass. My hands:shrug: Done nothing but gather germs. So I think spirituality it is appropriate to receive on the tongue since it is the tongue that seconds before declared Christ and moments before confessed faith and repented from sins.

CAF states “The universal law of the Latin rite is that we receive Communion on the tongue. To receive in the hand is an indult or special permission that does not exist in most parts of the world. By law, it is a right of the faithful to receive on the tongue, and the faithful must not have their rights denied.”
So it is no wonder that communion on the tongue*, per Memorial Domini* 1277, “expresses the faithful’s reverence for the Eucharist” and “removes the danger of profanation of the sacred species”.
And from St. Pope John Paul II on reception in the hand:
“However, cases of a deplorable lack of respect toward the eucharistic species have been reported, cases that are imputable not only to the individuals guilty of such behavior but also to the pastors of the church who have not been vigilant enough regarding the attitude of the faithful toward the Eucharist.”
