My reading of Canon 921 is that one may receive a third time as viaticum, or even a second time even though it is unlikely to be during a eucharistic celebration (but what away to go, eh?)
So, when our priest and deacon consumed all of the remaining hosts after a recent mid-week mass, that was wrong? I asked about it, and the reason given was that they were worried the bread would spoil. Of course, our communion bread is made of wheat and white flour, honey, sugar, baking powder and water. Bakes up just like real bread!! Very tasty too. (I never miss taking the wine at mass - at least I can be sure there is something validly consecrated!)MBS1
