Is it ok to receive Communion twice on the same Sunday. I go to one church on Saturday night and another one on Sunday morning. Is it allowed for me to receive Communion at each mass.

It is my understanding that current Church law does allow the reception of communion two times in one day as long as at least one time was at Mass. The second time could be at a second Mass, or even outside of Mass.

You may receive communion twice in a day as long as the second time is at Mass. (The first time could be at Mass, a communion service, sickbed, etc.)

Can. 917 A person who has already received the Most Holy Eucharist can receive it a second time on the same day only within the eucharistic celebration in which the person participates, without prejudice to the prescript of ⇒ can. 921, §2.

The reference to Can 921 is saying that if you are in danger of death you may receive Viaticum as well.

The above posters are correct. However:

While you may be attending two Masses celebrating the same propers, in the situation you describe you are not receiving Communion *twice on the same Sunday *-- You are receiving once on Saturday and once on Sunday.

I wasn’t sure if the Saturday mass and the Sunday morning mas counted as the same day. Thanks for the answers.

Eek! I didn’t read carefully enough because I didn’t notice that we were actually talking about Masses on different days. Good catch!
