My first question is can the ciborium be taken out of the Tabernacle at the ‘Lamb of God’ by the Deacon and left on the altar during communion in case the Priest or Deacon run out of the Blessed Sacrament. Or do they open the Tabernacle when they run out.

The second question is, can the MC fold up the linen Corporal that could have pieces of Christ’s body on it, as he did today. Or can only the Priest do this.

Thanks

To the first question, at my parish, that is the standard practice. We only have a deacon once a month, so it is usually an EMHC who removes the ciborium.

To the second question, I have never seen anybody but the deacon or priest perform this action. I would think that it is only appropriate for the priest to do it under normal circumstances. I browsed through the GIRM, but I didn’t see anything that specifically addressed that question.

In my home parish sometimes the altar server does this.

One of the changes that was made in our parish several years ago was that only the priest or deacon was supposed to take the ciborium out of the tabernacle during Mass and the priest returns the remaining Hosts to the tabernacle.

The second question, After the priest purifies the sacred vessels, the MC covers and veils the chalice and folds the corporal and puts it in the burse and the and the altar servers get them and put them on the side table. When the deacon is present, he purified the sacred vessels and veils covers the chalice etc including folding the corporal.
