Communion: right over left or left over right?

Guess what? The “True Roman Catholic Church” in communion with Benedict XVI allows for Communion in the hand.

Deal with it.

I don’t have to imagine. I’ve seen Communion given in the hand quite frequently.

You, too, can see it all the time on TV.

Whoa! bpbasilphx, “Deal with it?” What is that supposed to mean? I assume that this new way has come from Vatican II? I do not have to deal with it. I recieve Holy Communion on the tongue.

There is one, holy, Catholic, and apostolic Church that has its succession from Peter through Pope Benedict XVI. That is the OTF, that is the Church blessed by Holy Mary, that is the Church which we place our trust, our beliefs, and our hearts in. Whether you are a traditionalist, modernist, SSPX, FSSP, orthodox, or just your plain old Irish Catholic family of 15, we all turn to the Holy Father and the Bishops to receive the Magisterium and other teachings of the Church.

Personally, I receive communion on the tongue at Novus Ordo masses, and I prefer to genuflect before approaching the priest to receive communion. As an individual, I believe that is what I should do to properly pay homage and show my humility and respect for the Sacred Species.

However, as a Catholic belonging to the OTF, I accept (although do not choose) the option to receive in the hand. Regardless of where one receives, it is important to show the due respect, not ‘popping it in your mouth like popcorn’ or chewing it up 5 minutes after you’ve received it.

What I’m asking is that we have a real discussion about this stuff without saying things like “the ‘true’ Roman Catholic Church” or implying whatever is meant concerning modernist and post-VCII ideas by Pope Paul VI’s quote.

Whoa! bpbasilphx, “Deal with it?” What is that supposed to mean?

“Deal with it” means that reception in the hand is an accepted alternative, and so in a discussion about the proper way to do so, it isn’t appropriate to imply that reception in the hand is unacceptable.

Personally, I receive on the tongue due to physical issues with my hands. My parish also uses an altar rail and most people do receive on the tongue, but my pastor has instructed people about receiving in the hand in the same manner as puzzleannie described.
