Does anyone out there know who may carry out a communion service? At a local parish a nun carried out the entire service, is this wrong or not?

If a priest is not available to say Mass, a deacon, nun or even a “properly disposed layperson” may perform the communion service. This happens with some frequency in the military, as there are occasionally no priests available overseas.

In our diocese there are the following rules for Sunday Celebration In The Absence of a Priest requirements (SCAP): If a deacon is available, he may conduct the service and preach after the gospel. Next, a religious (Nun, Brother) or an Instituted Alcolyte-no preaching. Next a properly trained lay person-no preaching
Daily communion services have the same requirement, but usually are done by a trained lay person.

God Bless
