This happened many many months ago… maybe even a year. It has been a while, but while I was reading these threads it made me think of it. I would like an answer.
My brother had a guest at Mass one time. He was not Catholic. When communion came the guest went up and got what he considered bread, but did not place it in his mouth. He just went back to the pew and kept it in his hand. When I found out that he had went up for communion, taken the host, and was still holding it in his hand I told him to give it to me. He did. I placed it in my mouth. I had just received communion minutes before that as well. I do not suppose I will ever be faced with a situation like that again, but still I can not help but wonder if what I did was the right thing.
What does one do in a situation like that? I was still kneeling in my pew when all of this happened. It was moments after going up to receive.
Thank you to all who respond.
