Community Action Item for Salem, Oregon

We live several miles from a strip club in south Salem. We fought its arrival, but it’s operating now. There is a news story concerning what took place in front of the business a couple of nights ago. I have written city leadership, but have not received any response as yet. If anyone has any constructive suggestions for addressing this problem, of if you want to send a letter, I’d appreciate your thoughts! If one of my children had seen this activity the other night, I would have been even more furious.

Thank you, Oregon Artist. Received some additional information from the Chief of Police and a city counselor this morning, but it’s just too graphic to share. I know that sometimes Catholics seem to avoid taking stands on community causes such as this, but I would encourage folks to consider writing–if they have a moment. If not writing, though, Salem is in need of prayers!

I just noticed your new thread. Yes, Oregon can be pretty liberal. It’s too bad that there isn’t more opposition to this kind of thing.

For some reason, certain types of social causes seem to bring more Catholic response than other issues. I don’t quite get it, but it sometimes seems like the “Fundamentalists” do a better job regarding this kind of thing.
