If Jesus was God, part of God , son of God, whatever you wanna name it…Then why can’t he forgive them himself. Why does he keep asking the Father for every thing.

Peace
I am new to this forum so hopefully I am acknowledging the quotes and topics properly. I have reviewed many of the recent archives and this comparision topic caught my attention with much interest.

I came across a submitted this past July that became caught up in a heated discussion,…but remained unanswered,…then the post closed. The attached question seemed right on point for me that if someone could help me with this anwer,…I would appreciate it.

I have been reading too many posts that don’t provide evidence such that I am sceptical as to what if anything I may receive in turn.

Thanks in advance for you help.

Ghosty Quote:
Yes however we believe that many of the people of the book distorted it and changed parts of it.

Herein lies the problem: Prove it.

You can only do so by relying on the Quran, but the Quran relies on the distortion of Scripture being true in order for itself to be true and necessary. In other words, the ONLY testimony that the Quran can give is that Scripture is distorted. We need OUTSIDE proof, seperate from the Quran, to validate the Muslim claim.

For example, you can’t ask a liar if he’s lying. If he is actually an honest man, he will say he is not a liar, and if he is a liar, he will say that he is not a liar. Likewise, if the Quran is truth it will say it is, and if it is a lie it will say it is the truth.

The Scriptures of the Jews do not rely on the writings of the Jews to validate them. The EXISTANCE of the Jews is proof of the Scriptures of the Jews, because the Scriptures claim that God promised them survival as a unique people and culture for all time. No other contemporary people or culture of theirs have survived on any continent. Therefore, while it’s not absolute proof, it does strongly substantiate their claim, and encourages us to look deeper at their other claims. One of their claims, incidently, is that a Messiah will come (around the time that Jesus was born, though later Jews have revised this prediction) and that he will bring the final revelation for all people.

Likewise, the Scriptures of the Christians do not rely upon themselves for validation. There are numerous writings outside of Scripture, some by non-Christians (Josephus, Talmud) that verify the existance and practices of the early Christians. Furthermore, non-Scriptural writings by people who personally knew the Apostles record their teachings as identical to what we find in Scripture, and identical to the Catholic Church today. Christian Scripture states that this is the final revelation for all people.

Now fast-forward 600 years and we have a man who claims to have a message from God, but this message absolutely depends on both the Jewish and Christian Scriptures being distorted in order to be acceptable. This man, and his followers, have not provided any proof (to my knowledge) that these Scriptures are distorted, but rather depend on us taking Mohammed’s word for it.

Please provide proof of the distortion of that you claim from outside of the Quran. When you’ve done that, we can address the issue on reasonable terms.

Jesus and the Father are one, if that’s what you asked.

Jesus forgives and grants forgiveness. We will all be at the feet of Jesus under the fullness of his mercy on judgement day. But don’t worry. Believers have this utmost confidence that forgiveness indeed will be granted.

It is a mystery of God, really, that you’re marvelling at. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Form, and till now more than 1400 years after its revelation the two are identical. Hundreds of thousands of Muslims, I don’t want to say millions know the Qur’an by heart.
So? Is that supposed to make Islam a true religion??
The reality is that Islam is the fastest growing religion, so wake up.
Even if Islam is the fastest growing religion, and that is debatable, it does not mean it’s the truth! Argumentum ad numerum is another of the fallacies that Muslims use to prove that Islam is the true religion. Argumentum ad numerum asserts that the more people support a proposition the more likely it is that it is correct! Something that is true does not become untrue even if no one believes in it, and for the same token something that is untrue will not become true if more people believe in it! The truth of a belief must be established on ITS MERITS not its popularity.

“The broad mass of a nation will more easily fall victim to a big lie than to a small one”. These words of Adolph Hitler are a living testament to the idea that the bigger the lie, the more believable it becomes!

How about you compare Christianity to other religions brought by previous prophets
There is only one true religion of God brought before Christianity. Judaism. And Christ fulfilled Judaism and established the Catholic Church as the New Israel.
other religion has trinity in it. But fine, lets compare.
Because the Trinity is revealed to those who follow Christ.
Comparing Muhammad pbuh and Paul (revelations and miracles)
Bishop John S. Spong (Episcopal Bishop of Newark)
“Paul’s words are not the Words of God. They are the words of Paul- a vast difference.”
Luckily, on this forum, we are followers of the Catholic Church. Not of Bishop Spong.
  • Paul was simply a liar confirmed by Jesus pbuh himself. Receive revelations while he lied three times successively about ever knowing Jesus pbuh. And later perform miracles by Jesus’ name. Read what Jesus pbuh says about the likes of Paul
There is no evidence that SAINT Paul ever lied. Not even before he became Christian. On the other hand, Mohammed taught the value of lying.
“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?.
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Mathew 7:22-23)
No. This is about false prophets not about St. Paul.
Jesus pbuh gave no exception not to Paul not to anyone to perform miracles in his name.
I wonder when Muslims will quit misrepresenting the teachings of Jesus Christ? Jesus Christ gave CARTE BLANCHE to all who believed in Him that they should perform miracles in His Name.

But Jesus said: Do not forbid him. For there is no man that doth a miracle in my name, and can soon speak ill of me.

Because I go to the Father: and whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my name, that will I do: that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

                                                                                     [John 16:24](http://www.whereinthebible.org/index.php?bookId=50&chapterId=16&verseId=24&page=2#x)

Hitherto you have not asked any thing in my name. Ask, and you shall receive; that your joy may be full.
Muhammad pbuh on the other hand, even his enemies testified of his truthfulness and honesty.
Mohammed is famous for treachery in battle and for teaching his principles of lying when one wants to deceive a wife, to keep peace and in times of war.

As for the miracles, all the miracles performed by Muhammad pbuh where from Allah (swt) not from Jesus pbuh.
Mohammed performed no miracles as the Quran also attests:
"(Mohammed) You are only a Warner and for every nation there is a guide." (13:7)
The greatest of all miracles is the Qur’an the true word of God,
The Uthman’s Quran is far from a miracle. It is a bundle of contradiction. And Mohammed’s Quran no longer exists, Uthman had it burned.

And since Uthman, a Muslim, had it burned, it must have been a true failure and abysmal that the only solution was to destroy it.
which we still have it till this day and stay till the Judgement day.
No, you don’t have Mohammed’s Quran. Never did. Mohammed never compiled it and what scraps and pieces he did have were burned by Uthman.
Show me the miracles of any Prophet that existed after his death, none not a single Prophet.
Certainly. Jesus miracles.
  1. The Catholic Church, which Jesus established, is miraculous because Her teachings are infallible and because of Her duration. Islam as practiced by Mohammed no longer exists. The Catholic Church still teaches the teachings of Jesus Christ.
  2. The Holy Eucharist, the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ is still present in the Catholic Church. It is when we eat this Bread and drink this Cup that we proclaim His death until He come.
Because they where all sent for specific periods of time, or to specific people. While the Qur’an was meant to all Mankind till the Judgement day.
No. The Quran was concocted by Mohammed for his personal gain.
Beside the Qur’an many miracles where performed by Muhammad pbuh (by Allah’s Leave), miracles reached thousands. Here are some of them:
The splitting of the moon, water flowing from between his fingers, increasing the quantity of food and water, the glorification of the food, the palm tree yearning for him, stones greeting him, the talking of the poisoned leg [of roasted sheep], trees walking towards him, two trees that were far apart coming together and then parting again, the barren [and therefore dry] sheep giving milk, his returning the eye of Qatidah bin an-Nu`man to its place with his hand after it had slipped out, ……
And these miracles are documented where? Witnessed by whom?
Read: some are mentioned here islaam.com/Article.aspx?id=596
No thank you. I don’t rebut entire websites. Bring them up one at a time right here and I’ll show you the error of your ways.
Compare Muhammad and Jesus peace be upon them both.
The Qur’an simply commands the believers not to make distinction between the Prophets for they are all Brothers. Allah (swt) can make distinction between them for he created them, but we can’t.
Another falsehood from the Quran. It is easy to distinguish between even the real Prophets. But especially easy to identify a false prophet like Mohammed.
“. The Messenger (Muhammad pbuh) believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, and (so do) the believers. Each one believes in Allâh, His Angels, His Books, and His Messengers. They say, “We make no distinction between one another of His Messengers” – and they say, “We hear, and we obey. (We seek) Your Forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the return (of all).” (Qur’an 2:285)
If that is what Mohammed believed he would have repented of his Quranic lies long before he died.

You say “Even the Qur’an says that Jesus was born of the Holy Spirit and was without sin”
This is what the Qur’an says
“(Remember) when the angels said: “O Maryam (Mary)! Verily, Allâh gives you the glad tidings of a Word “Be!” - and he was! i.e. 'Iesa (Jesus) the son of Maryam (Mary)] from Him, his name will be the Messiah 'Iesa (Jesus), the son of Maryam (Mary), held in honor in this world and in the Hereafter, and will be one of those who are near to Allâh.” (Qur’an 3:45)
The Quran also says this:

O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: nor say of God aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) an apostle of God, **and His Word, **which he bestowed on Mary, and a Spirit proceeding from him: so believe in God and His apostles. Say not “Trinity”: desist: it will be better for you: for God is One God: Glory be to Him: (Far exalted is He) above having a son. To him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is God as a Disposer of affairs. Surah 4.171

Now if Jesus is the Word of God, then He is God. Because the word of man begins in man and is part of man. My word is first a thought in me.

If then, Jesus is the Word of God then He was formed in Allah and since Allah has no parts nor any partners, Jesus must be God.

And if Jesus is a Spirit from Allah and nothing proceeds from Allah except Allah, then Jesus is Allah.

Very simple logic.
You said “And the Qur’an admits that Jesus will be our judge at the end times.”
This is one good example why Christians have deviated from the original message preached by Jesus pbuh, you twist his words.
It is Mohammed who twisted Jesus words His words and you believed Mohammed hook line and sinker although Mohammed could prove none of his claims:
This is what the Qur’an says my friend:
“And there is none of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), but must believe in him 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), as only a Messenger of Allâh and a human being], before his death. And on the Day of Resurrection, he 'Iesa (Jesus)] will be a witness against them.” (Qur’an 4:159)
Isn’t it strange that Islam teaches that Jesus never died, yet the Quran teaches that:
And there is none of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), but must believe in him 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), as only a Messenger of Allâh and a human being], before his death…

And therefore teaches that Jesus died:
Here’s another example:
“Lo ! God said: 'O Jesus! Verily I shall cause thee to die (mutawaffeeka), and shall exalt thee unto me, and cleanse thee of those who are bent on denying the truth; and I shall place those who follow thee above those who are bent on denying the truth, unto the day of resurrection. In the end unto Me you all must return, and I shall judge between you with regard to all on which you were wont to differ.” S. 3:55 Muhammed Asad
answering-islam.org/Shamoun/tabari_on_jesus.htm
He’s gonna be a “witness” not a “judge”. The only Judge on that Day is Allah (swt).
According to Christian belief He will be the Just Judge. But you have just provided evidence that Jesus “died” on the Cross from the Quran.
“And (remember) when Allâh will say (on the Day of Resurrection): "O 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)! Did you say unto men: ‘Worship me and my mother as two gods besides Allâh?’ “He will say: "Glory be to You! It was not for me to say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, You would surely have known it. You know what is in my inner self though I do not know what is in Yours, truly, You, only You, are the All Knower of all that is hidden and unseen. Never did I say to them aught except what You (Allâh) did command me to say: ‘Worship Allâh, my Lord and your Lord.’ And I was a witness over them while I dwelt amongst them, but when You took me up, You were the Watcher over them, and You are a Witness to all things. (This is a great admonition and warning to the Christians of the whole world).” (Qur’an 5:116-117)
It is simply another of Mohammed’s lies. But it goes to show how much Mohammed borrowed from other religions:

Compare Qur’an and the Bible

As this topic has been discussed a lot, and we all know the Bibles that you have in your hands does not stand a chance against the Qur’an in every way.
You are wrong. The Bible stands head and shoulders above the Quran.
One single fact is enough to be mentioned here, we Muslims have One Book (One Version),
You have one book because Uthman burned the originals. There were more than one original held by many Muslims and they disputed over who had the original so Uthman burned everyone’s and substituted his own.
the Catholics’ Bible has 73 books in it, and the Protestant Bible has 66 books in it.
Not exactly true. Many Protestants also have 73 books in their Bible. But they only consider 66 inspired. To verify, check out the King James with the Apocrypha.
On top of all this, the church publishes a new version every number of years,
I’m not sure about that either. I know the Church makes sure that the published versions are acceptable translations. But is the Church in the Bible publishing business?

Does anyone here know?
editing verses, words and as you can see whole books, all under the banner of “a better translation”.
That is true. Many people today have trouble understanding Olde English. So, interpretations are updated to make sense to modern readers. There are also various versions of the Quran. Do I need to list a few?
One more thing I have to mention here, just in case you don’t know it: The revelation contained in the Qur’an has been transmitted to us by numerous persons in two ways: orally and in written
Form, and till now more than 1400 years after its revelation the two are identical.
Not exactly. The fact is that Mohammed’s versions were destroyed. What you have now is allegedly what Mohammed dictated to 40 scribes but since we can’t compare to the originals, we don’t know for sure.
Hundreds of thousands of Muslims, I don’t want to say millions know the Qur’an by heart.
That doesn’t make it true. It just means that thousands of Muslims have memorized Uthman’s rescension.
Consider the Time
I like this, ok let’s consider the time, you say “The Bible was written in a span of over 2000 years by many, many Prophets (beginning with Moses) and Apostles (ending with John)”
The truth has certainly stood the test of time.
I have a question here if it was written by Moses pbuh then how come it says things like
“So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord” (Deuteronomy 34:5)
Because after Moses died, his associates finished it for him.

I don’t know why Muslims have trouble with that. After Mohammed died, the Quran was allegedly compiled by Uthman compiled by Uthman. Yet they give Mohammed full credit for the Quran? What’s the difference?

cont’d

And Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eyes was not dim, nor his natural force abated.” (Deuteronomy 34:7)
Moses is writing his own book yet he’s talking about his own death and in the past tense!!! Please.
Obviously, you take a simplistic approach to history. Yes, Moses wrote the bulk of the Decalogue. Scribes finished it after his death. Compared to the fact that no one saw Mohammed’s angel, Mohammed had no miracles to confirm his alleged supernatural encounter, Mohammed never finished the task God assigned to him, and the fact that Muslims burned Mohammed’s work after his death, that makes the Bible much more credible than the Quran, hands down.
You said “The Qur’an was begun and finished in a span of 30 or 40 years”, just a small correction it began and finished in a span of 23 years.
I don’t see how this is a bad thing, on the contrary it’s a positive thing.
Its bad because it didn’t stand the test of time. No one ever actually saw Mohammed’s work compiled by Mohammed. And what they did see was such a poor work that they decided to burn it that no one might ever see it again and discover Mohammed’s fraud.
Considering the nature of the Revelation
I don’t where to start, I’m gonna go quickly on some points mentioned here.
Your claim “The revelation to Mohammed essentially undid everything that God had revealed to the Jews and the Christians.”
This is unbelievable, I mean you the Christians say that the Personality of God who revealed the OT is very different than the Personality of God who revealed the NT. The only book that deviates far from the original message sent by God to all his prophets is your book. The concept of Trinity was not preached by any Prophet. All of them worshiped One God, and submitted to the will of the One true God.
The Jews knew God as the One who loved them. So do Christians. Muslims don’t.

The Jews did not completely understand the revelation of God. God had revealed His Trinitarian nature in the Old Testament. But then definitvely in the New when Jesus revealed it.

But Muslims have reconstructed the true revelation in a self contradictory fashion which smacks of someone making up a lie right on the spot.
Again this is your claim “Muslims essentially interpret the Qur’an personally or they may adhere to the interpretation of a particular school of thought or of some country”
This is what Allah (swt) say in the Qur’an “Then it is for Us (Allâh) to make it clear to you” (75:19).
That is true. Neither did you rebut what I said. The fact is that Mohammed was the only true leader of a united Islam. Since Mohammed, Islam has never been practiced. Everyone follows their own individual interpretation.

To put it concisely, there is no Magisterium as there is in the Catholic Church. You guys do what you want and interpret the Quran as you want.
You said “Jesus revealed Himself and proved that He was God by performing many miracles”
Let me see, Moses pbuh performed miracles, how about David, Solomon, Joseph, etc… are they Gods too!!!
No. They didn’t claim to be God. Jesus did. And those who heard Him understood what He was saying.

The Jews answered him: For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, **maketh thyself God.**
“This Spiritual Body has stood for over 2000 years. Even though the Muslims believe their religion has stood for over 1400, it really hasn’t.”
The reality is that Islam is the fastest growing religion, so wake up.

My dear, there may be no witness when God talked to Moses or Jonah, but there were signs and wonders. Please take note : there were signs and wonders, there were signs and wonders … for everyone to see.

Just a simple quiz. What were the signs and wonders of Moses and Jonah? (that made us very certain that they were prophets of God).

It is not true that no witness is needed for prophet’s encounters with God. … But oh, you don’t speak for Muslims, do you?

Hi

When GodAllahYHWH make a conversation with his ProphetsMessengers there is no need of any witnesses.
Yet when Moses spoke to God, the entire nation of Israel was witness. After Moses spoke to God, his face glowed and also the entire nation of Israel was witness:

Exodus 24:9-11 (King James Version)

9Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel:
10And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.
11And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.
When God talked to Jonah there was no witness ,
But the other Books of the Bible are well attested and they witness and confirm that Jonah’s story is true. Especially the Gospels:

Matthew 12:41
The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
When God talde to Moses on the mountain, there was no witness.
But when God spoke to Moses in the tent, there were witnesses:

Exodus 19: 9And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.
In fact no withess is needed.
In fact, you are wrong. God does not expect anyone to believe fantastic tales without proof.
Quan

[17:95] And nothing prevents people from believing when the guidance comes to them save that they say, ‘Has Allah sent a man like us as a Messenger?’
[17:96] Say, ‘Had there been in the earth angels walking about in peace and quiet, We would have certainly sent down to them from heaven an angel as a Messenger.’
[17:97] **Say, ‘Sufficient is Allah for a Witness between me and you; surely, He knows and sees His servants full well.’ **
I think it is reasonable.I prefer Yahweh’s attitude:
Exodus 4:1And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee.
2And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.
3And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.
4And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:
5That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.
6And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow.
7And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh.

And also Jesus’ attitude:
John 10:38
But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.

Believing in Mohammed is simply blind faith in the ravings of a self serving charlatan who was interested only in his personal gain.

Sincerely,

De Maria

More examples on witnesses of signs and wonders of God’s prophets …

Witnesses (all the Israelites) saw Moses’ face was radiant after he talked with God that he had to cover himself with a veil.

**Exodus 34:29-35
29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the LORD. 30 When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him.

31 But Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the community came back to him, and he spoke to them. 32 Afterward all the Israelites came near him, and he gave them all the commands the LORD had given him on Mount Sinai.

33 When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face. 34 But whenever he entered the LORD’s presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded,

35 they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the LORD.**

Witnesses (the ship crew) saw the raging sea being calmed down.

*Jonah 1:4-8
4 Then the LORD sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up. 5 All the sailors were afraid and each cried out to his own god. And they threw the cargo into the sea to lighten the ship.

8 So they asked him, “Tell us, who is responsible for making all this trouble for us? What do you do? Where do you come from? What is your country? From what people are you?”
9 He answered, “I am a Hebrew and I worship the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the land.” …

11 The sea was getting rougher and rougher. So they asked him, “What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?”
12 “Pick me up and throw me into the sea,” he replied, “and it will become calm…” …

15 Then they took Jonah and threw him overboard, and the raging sea grew calm. *
