Comparison of God’s Permissiveness & Our Silence

If we are silent regarding another person’s sin when we should have spoken up then we are just as guilty as the sinner for remaining silent. If God remains silent and allows a person to sin in order for the greater good to come out then He is right and just.

I thought “then ends does not justify the means” how does that work?

God does not allow evil specifically to CAUSE a greater good, God works a greater good IN SPITE OF evil.

If God remains silent and allows a person to sin

God does not remain silent, he has told us what is or is not sinful through Revelation and the Natural Law. God does not forcibly prevent us from sinning because he has created us with free will. Without free will we would never sin but we would be animals not humans who can freely chose to love God or not.

God does not and has not remained silent. He has given us natural law, the commandments, sacred Scripture, and the teaching authority of the Church, all of which should provide us with the necessary moral direction for our individual and corporate lives.

I agree with the comments re free will: God does not force us to obey him or to live in any particular fashion. But don’t confuse our unwillingness to listen with a silence on His part.

That’s interesting, I’m not sure I understand the difference can you please expand on your answer?

In this world we’re to be the hands of God, i.e. mans’ will reigns here, whether for better or worse. If God acted against evil now, then free will wouldn’t exist. Instead, He’s waiting patiently, to see how we do playing Him, since, after all, man’s original sin was to want to take His place, to be God. Ultimately good and evil won’t be allowed to coexist and His justice will reign again in the universe.
