I can’t afford both. Maybe I really don’t need either since I have the CCC and have read it and love it. 😉 Our beloved Holy Father has done a Forward for the Compendium-does that mean that it is the best (if a person just wanted a quick answer) or maybe the US Catholic Catechism?

I like the Compendium. I learned to like it while reading it online here, so then I went out and bought a copy. It has very nice color artwork. It works great to spend a few short moments reading about a topic, like, what is the liturgy, or whatever strikes your fancy.

I like it much better than the “in brief” short portions of the CCC.

I like how the U.S. Catechism for Adults is formatted, it’s very readable.

there is no “vs.”
the compendium presents doctrine in a simple Q&A format. the doctrine is presented in a more elaborate summary, with sources and footnotes, in sequence in which doctrine has developed, in the CCC. It is presented in a topical chapter format for group and individual study in the new US CC for Adults.

just purchase the one that best meets your needs at this, time, or consult the catechism on-line, through the bishops website usccb.org, or through a very searchable version on catholicity.com

if you have the CCC have read it, are familiar with it, are comfortable using it, there is no need to buy another book unless it would help you in apologetics, teaching etc. The info in all 3 is the same, presented in a different format, in greater or lesser detail.
