Hello everyone, I’m sorry if I come off as scrupulous but what does it mean to completely consent, and have full knowledge when something is a grave matter?

Like for example, if you get angry with someone, and wish harm on them then realize what you’re doing is wrong, and stop is that full consent, and full knowledge?

Or if you have a thought that pops in, you know you don’t agree with it it just comes in. You don’t really do anything about it, but you don’t agree with it. Is that full consent?

Or what if you say something in your head, that just kind of pops in, like an insult? It may feel like you willfully said it, but you didn’t intend on degrading someone, and you disagree with what you said?
  • I hope this post won’t get locked, I’m sorry if this comes off as scrupulous. I just want to know.
Thanks in advance for all replies. May God bless you all, your families, and loved ones. May he keep you all safe, and healthy.

You have posted several threads today asking these kinds of questions. You have been advised not to do so, and to seek help offline for your scrupulosity and OCD.

Others would be well advised not to reply. You are in my prayers.

Not today. The other topics got locked. I apologize but I’m just getting a little wound up about something. I’ve e mailed my priest, but he hasn’t gotten back to me. (I understand he’s very busy, and he deserves to relax too)

I just wanted to know what the complete and deliberate consent means, and the full knowledge. So that way I can get some help in discerning my thought from a sinful one, from something I dint need to worry about.

God bless you, and your family. May God keep them safe, and healthy.

The person who replied to you above IS a priest. Please heed his advice, and wait for your priest to respond, instead of asking strangers on the Internet. Asking this question repeatedly in this forum will not help your scrupulosity.

Ok, that’s good advice. I guess I just need to stop overthinking it until my priest gets back to me. Thank you for your advice.

God bless you.

Is there any way to delete these threads?
