I was able to download the files from the ftp site. My problem is the file formats, extentions are xml, mrc and zip. I can’t afford winzip, so is there another way to open that in windows? What applications use xml or mrc files?

If you have WindowsXP you can open them without winzip. Otherwise download 7zip. It is free and can handle many other formats that winzip can’t.

Daniel,

xml is a text-based data file. Either Notepad or Wordpad will open it; both should be available to you in Accessories.

As to the mrc extension, if you give me a url for the file (and its English langage title), I’ll see what I can tell you (there are seemingly 2 different types of files using that extension)

The .mrc file is strictly a bibliographic record type of file. What you see when you click on it is all that it is. You are essentially looking at an electronically encoded version of a library catalog type card, which says
