I am wondering to what extent concupiscence drives our addictions to ‘news’ and ‘celebrities.’ Now news is updated continuously on 24 hour a day channels, and we have celebrities who are famous for no real reason. How much is too much? It seems that to avoid watching all news would be avoiding reality, and yet who needs to hear about the very personal tragedies that afflict us day in, and day out?

Any advice? Is there any sin in this?

Hmmmm…

Well,… since all addictions are “evil”, what would that tell you about an addiction to “news”…?

I think that trick would be to not let “watching news” be an addiction in the first place.

Apparently I don’t understand your invoking concupiscience and “the media” in the same sentence here, because my “answer” to your question sounds rather silly and shallow.

Can you be a bit more illuminating of your problem? 🙂

Thanks.

“OUR” addictions? Your addiction maybe. But I have not had a TV set since 1985, do not bother to read newspapers, do not go to movies, and ignore most of pop culture. What addiction? :tsktsk:
