Watched this movie yesterday and thought it was great, but am somewhat confused about his findings and the results regarding football and CTE. Once he makes this link between the condition and playing football, his life and career are threatened, they try to stop the findings from getting out or recognized, but then go on to make a movie about him, which also makes the NFL look very bad in the process, many people involved said once his findings get out, football will die out soon after, as no one will want their kids to play anymore.

But apparently this has not happened at all, so its strange they make a movie about this doctor and what he found, but as a society we are too dumb to change our ways, If I was this doctor I think Id be pretty upset, as they basically just ignored his findings, I mean, football is as popular as ever?!

People never think the bad things can happen to them.

I mean, have racehorses been given up because of what happened to Christopher Reeve?

I thought it was the worst will smith movie since wild Wild West. I also think that football is a dangerous sport and the players are compensated extremely well.
I find it amazing this is even an issue when many poor, blue collar workers risk thier bodies and lives every day for survival.

“Improvements in road safety and workplaces mean that homes and leisure pursuits now cause far more injuries and deaths – 1,000 per month – than car crashes and industrial accidents, according to Mann, president of the College of Emergency Medicine.”

I think it’s pretty well known that you are safer working at work for The Man than you are doing jobs around the house.

One word answers this issue… MONEY.
Yes.

Also, some things run deep. I can’t imagine the U.K putting up with someone saying that football (soccer) was too dangerous to play. Yikes. Whether or not American Football ought to be stopped, or not.

Will Smith’s performance was actually very convincing. The facts were shocking.

Concussion is on my watch list. Usually I like Will Smith movies (Hitch & Independence Day were great!), but there are opposing opinions here.

Any more pros or cons? It won’t cost me anything but time to watch it - it’s in the library - but I hate wasting my time on bad movies.

Yep. Football players know the risks of the game and are willing to play it so they share some of the responsibility for any injuries or long term effects of playing the game.

I would agree with this if so many other things were not either banned or heavily regulated due to their risks to health and safety though.
There’s not the money in those things that there is in football. Or, conversely, the money that there is in them is far less than the societal cost. (Drugs, tobacco, alcohol, etc, have good money behind them, but staggering societal costs.)
