In an interview with Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), she said most Zambians wrongly believed that condoms provided a guarantee against the spread of HIV.
“I believe telling people about the importance of chastity and fidelity is the only way to tackle the crisis. Condoms have been freely available for 10 years or more and yet there’s been no obvious change in HIV levels. Clearly, condoms don’t work,” she
She’s right. Too many things can go wrong with condoms including an accidental tear with fingernails while attempting to open the package. They can leak, break, or slip off during the conjugal act. What about all the defective condoms which arrive at warehouses in the third world? Not too long ago Mozambique refused a shipment of millions of substandard condoms. Many have lost their effectiveness simply because of poor storage conditions. How many people know if that condom -which they are relying on to protect their health, the lives of their family, and their entire future - has either been frozen in sub-zero temperatures or fried like an egg before it ever reached their hands? Either extreme conditions will degrade the quality of the condom.

Safer to trust in the Lord rather than trust the purveyors of death who distribute these thin promises of protection.

Anyone interested in fact and not fiction can read Fr. Euteneuer’s excellent article at Human Life International.

You seem to be an expert in condom technology.
A condom may not be perfect. But a vaccine may well be. If, in the event, a viable vaccine is developed, tested and distributed, what will your argument be then? Don’t take the vaccine?

Magician, why do you think she would be opposed to an HIV vaccine?

As for OP news story, condoms really haven’t been given a try in Zambia. According to the UNAIDS country profile, less than 40% of young people aged 15 to 24 used a condom last time they had sex with a casual partner. And the percentage of young people who have had casual sex in the past year is fairly high.

It seems as if the ABC program hasn’t been well implemented in Zambia.

Magician, Dale_M intuition is correct. In point of fact, I would not be against a vaccine. Nevertheless, I would continue to advocate for education based on character building and virtuous behavior. 😉
