I watched as bad examples began to enter our neighborhoods. Most called themselves Hippies. Forget about mom, dad, priests and nuns. Forget about God. “Don’t trust anyone over 30!”

I was there as they offered “something better” to young people: smoke marijuana, live with your girlfriend and have sex because marriage didn’t mean anything, talk dirty and lose respect for all authority, except them. I was there for all of it. The bad role models were confronted about their behavior but what we got back was: “We’re grown adults! We’ll live how we want!”

The way people handle sex today - this is better?

STDs are at epidemic levels.

So many of these STDs are from contact of skin to skin like HPV. Unless you’d go through a series of blood tests like they used to do when you were married you don’t know what someone’s got. From their past that is.

Survey parents,huh? I’ll step up. I have one birth control pill baby and one condom baby. So, yeah, nothing is 100%!

Thanks too MJ, I know it’s not really safe to discuss (much less joke about) the issue [we have already given such things a foothold where none previously existed]. But I applaud your two (and the rest) of your children!

When you think of the odds of conception when everything GOES RIGHT! you have to see that GOD really really wanted to give them to YOU. GOD BLESS AND GODSPEED. I am looking across the room at my baby now (she is 16, she fell asleep on the couch ). We (my wife and I) were told we couldn’t have children, my wife and I were crushed. Just before we both barely started getting over that news (two years later), our daughter came along. When I look at her I think “who would ever want to prevent one of those?” Babies are just further proof that GOD still has big plans for the world and, hopefully thereby, the rest of us.

As for the prevention of disease, I think many of those could have been prevented if we never left the garden of Eden, since Adam and Eve, thereafter, had to wear pants, we have underwear, and that’s where the World’s problems started (when people had to put their feet through the holes in their underwear to put them on).

Life on this world is 100% fatal at the end. Don’t let fears allow you to demean that which God created good. Receive the gifts He’s given and trust that He knows what He’s doing. Attempting to create a 100% safe bubble world is guaranteed misery. Discerning what is good and living it to the fullest certainly has dangers, but is the best potential outcome possible given the fallenness of humanity and the suffering it brings to the world. Add in the Grace of Christ and life is pretty darn good, dangers and all.

There is so much craziness out there, I have no doubt that you may have read this somewhere. You may have considered the source to be credible, so you honesty believed that this is true. But it’s not.

Most members of our secular society consider condoms to be useful tools used for legitimate reasons and therefore not something to be avoided. The fact that the Church teaches against the use of condoms is something most non-Catholics view as being very odd. While, from the Church’s perspective, there are some very good reasons not to use condoms, that teaching, like many Church teachings, tends to get lost when it has to compete with some of the totally off-the-wall, crazy, and completely untrue things some people say to discourage behavior the Church teaches against. We should all be a bit more discriminating before we unknowingly spread misinformation that does nothing but cloud the true message.

Catholic or not I also do not trust contraception. I don’t think it always works and it’s not worth risking some disease. Before I came into the church I had a little bout with sex and wasn’t particularly thrilled or hooked on it. 'Course that’s all changed now. That’s over.

I had those very same thoughts. I have told my kids that I was contracepting when they were conceived and they came into being anyways, so they must have been meant to be. Gifts. Surprise gifts, lol, but good ones!

I am so happy that you and your wife got a happy ending to your infertility story.

Underwear aren’t so bad, but I hear zippers were hard to invent and I know they have caused the male of the species untold injuries!
