Glory to Jesus Christ!
I heard from my parents Methodist pastor that he is a member of a popular movement called “The Confessing Movement.” The goals of this movement from what I have read so far, are to return many mainline denominations to their roots. In my research on the subject, the United Methodists recognize that they have strayed from John Wesley’s original intent and his beliefs and are calling for a return to their roots (whatever that may mean). My question is: how far back are they willing to go? John Wesley, as far as I know, died an Anglican priest in good standing. Would Methodists be returning to the Anglican church?
A number of other Protestant sectarians beside the Methodists are advocating the same thing such as the Presbyterians, Episcopalians, et al. What does this Confessing Movement mean to you all and how far back are you willing to go with it? Does it stand a chance or will it crumble?
