Confession and Easter Reception of Communion

Normally at Mass I never receive Communion but I just remembered that it is a mortal sin not to receive Holy Communion during the Easter season. However I am definitely in mortal sin already for months, and have no way of going to confession before Easter Sunday. Am I therefore committing another mortal sin by not receiving Communion? What should I do? Help would be most appreciated.

Easter Sunday is this weekend, but the Easter season lasts through the end of May, so try to go sometime within the next few weeks.

It may not be possible to arrange for a confession prior to Easter. Unfortunately, most parish rectories are probably closed, so you may not be able to arrange an individual appointment with a priest. Also, I’m not sure that there are going to be confessions tomorrow at the normal time, but it’s worth checking out whether any parish near you might have them.

It’s worth a try, and if it doesn’t work out, then hopefully you will be able to go to confession next weekend or sometime during the rest of the Easter season. May God bless you on your journey to Reconciliation!

Remember the Easter Season lasts until Pentecost - you are required to confess and receive Communion during the Easter season .

You have time - just go as soon as possible

We have an infinitely merciful God, if you have it in your heart to get to confession, one will pop up if you keep your eyes open. I’m glad to hear that you want to get out of the motal sin state as well.
