Hello all, I have a quick question. Am I allowed a valid confession before being confirmed? Btw, I’m still a Catechumen because I am a convert/converting.
Thanks!

Are you an elect or candidate? Baptised or not? Elect dont need confession because of baptism, but candidates do because they have already been baptised long before. As a catechumen and it being lent I assume you are familiar with all that I’m saying.Hello all, I have a quick question. Am I allowed a valid confession before being confirmed? It’s not just allowed, it’s required for those previously baptized to confess before receiving the Eucharist & Confirmation. Your RCIA instructor should be setting up a First Reconciliation for all candidates. If they do not, make an appointment with the priest.Ya I am a canidate, I have been baptised, and I heard about an obligation of going to confession during lent, I just want to make sure this** is allowed for me before **confirmation, as I had heard it infered otherwise (kinda like the Eucharist, which of course I know I’m not to take).
From what I know and have heard candidates are to have confession before confirmation, but like you said not the Eucharist.Ya I am a canidate, I have been baptised, and I heard about an obligation of going to confession during lent, I just want to make sure this** is allowed for me before **confirmation, as I had heard it infered otherwise (kinda like the Eucharist, which of course I know I’m not to take).
Sympathy. I am a 62 year old RCIA Candidate. Baptised 1944, so had 55 years of sin to unload. I did face-to face with a Priest last 14 February. It was not so much courage as TRUST I needed to summon up, to trust both the sacrament and the power of the Seal Of Confession.OK cool thanks I’ll be sure to confess. I’ll need to work up my courage though. I think my RCIA director might be setting one up soon. Thanks again
I don’t see any reason that you should have to wait, since you are already baptized, have received instruction, and have the desire to confess now. Find a good priest whom you trust, make an appointment, and go for it! Here’s a “how-to” in case your RCIA catechists haven’t provided any guidance:Not to hijack, but I am also a candidate (the Bishop has decided to bring candidates in May 20, catechumen on Easter)…can I go? I was told I had to wait I really want to go to confession.
