A follow-up on tac’s question on confession. I have a 14 year old son who is going to go to RCIA this year. After he has been properly catechized on confession, does he have access to Sacramental Confession more than once, if needed?

Here is my concern. SInce he has already been baptized, there can be no baptism by desire. Confession by desire doesn’t really exist. Should the question of mortal sin arise, he has no other normal means of forgiveness and would have to rely on the possibility of perfect contrition. Can he go to confession more than once during RCIA?

Dear P,

I see no reason why your son, after he has been properly catechized, cannot seek absolution when he needs to.
