Hi, is I belong to the Church and Never going to have a confession is that bad (if so why) or it does not matter?

If you commit any mortal sins, confession is the means of getting back in the state of grace.

So, unless you are a very holy person, confession is essential.

It also gives us the grace to avoid sinning in the future.

God Bless

Paul, its required of Catholics that we go once a year. It is also the only way for mortal sins to be forgiven. Unless you are a saintly sort of person and acheive perfect contrition which is quite difficult.

The confession of all (at least, mortal) sin, at least once a year, is one of the precepts of the Catholic Church, meaning we are still in communion with the universal Catholic Church. This is the only way we can be assured that our mortal sins are forgiven (since we can’t be sure we have perfect contrition and therefore are absolved by Him) and that we haven’t rejected (forever) Him, so need to be in that place :bigyikes: which is berefit of Him forever.

Also, even if one were to have sins forgiven without the sacrament, through perfect contrition, one must still confess those sins and present them to the “power of the keys”.

Perfect contrition **includes **the desire to go to confession, or it’s not perfect contrition. For Catholics this desire must be explicit, since they know that Christ Himself created the sacrament of confession for sins and mandates we use it. For non-Catholics or those otherwise not aware of Christ’s command, the desire must be implicit – they would want to go to confession if they knew of it.

This sacrament is central to the Christian life because Christ Himself said His apostles (John 20:23): “If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

The frequent (i.e. weekly, monthly) confession of all sins, mortal or venial, is an excellent way to receive graces to help you grow in faith and to overcome your sinful tendencies. Call me simplistic, but I view the Sacrament of Penance as a sort of shower by which your soul can be completely cleansed. Thank God people don’t bathe only once a year anymore!
