Confession Question Priest not wearing a Stole

If a Priest did not wear a stole, or said “walk with me and talk…I’m in a hurry,” would you state your confession? I didn’t…I just said “No thank you father, I’ll come back,” or I just didn’t go to him that day. Would you?

If my confession was urgent, that is, if I had a mortal sin to confess, then of course I would. I’d do whatever I had to do. A stole isn’t a necessity, especially in an emergency.

If my case wasn’t urgent, I’d take a hint and wait until a time when he wasn’t in such a hurry.

If he had a habit of being in a hurry whenever confession was involved, I’d find another confessor.

If a priest does not wear a stole your sins are still forgiven, I;ve asked Father to hear my Confession as we were walking and thought nothing of it. If you realize it, how can a stole forgive you? It is the consecrated hands of Christ and the Holy Spirit that forgive you. Don;t get hung up in these unnecessary things or you will become scrupulous.

If I needed to go to confession, it wouldn’t matter if he was wearing a hula skirt or wanted me to walk on my hands alongside of him.

When I returned to the sacrament after serveral years away, I assumed that a certain priest heard confessions before daily masses - not that uncommon around here. So I showed up to find no one in the confessional. Finally one of the “church ladies” offered to go get him. He showed up in khaki pants and a sweater and I doubt if there was a stole in the picture. He asked if it would take long (Mass time quickly approaching). I told him if he didn’t talk too much, I wouldn’t need long at all. That confession was life-changing.
