Confession question?

I went to confession and I confessed a sin that i had done more than once. I didn’t keep count but I was kind of nervous about it so i just said I did it a few times or maybe a couple and I got all caught up and just left it at that I could think of a word that meant more than once or an exact number(cause I didn’t really know). I know it was more than a couple times … not sure how many. I don’t keep count but do i need to go back and re confess it more or am i just being scrupulous?

If you don’t know exactly how many times you did it, and didn’t set out to intentionally deceive the priest then you’re fine. For example if it was just nerves, and not that you were embarrassed to say you’d done it more often or something.

For future it’s sometimes easier to give a rough estimate of frequency for frequent sins - ‘daily’ ‘about 3 times a week’ ‘weekly’ or what have you. And tell the truth always - priests really have heard it all.

I have experienced the exact same thing. Don’t worry about it. If you say you’ve done it “several times”, I think that’s fine. It’s the truth, and that makes it clear to the priest that it’s a habitual sin that you continually struggle with. Unless you know the exact number, saying “several times” or “2 or 3 times a week” or “almost daily” is the best you can do. As the precious post said, the important thing is that you confess your sin honestly, and not hold things back.

yeah i think it was a little bit of everything. I honestly didnt know the number of times I just knew it was more than once or a few times but I couldnt think of a way to say more than once or a few without giving a number or saying something that made it sound like i did it a way lot. I just feel by settling by saying a a couple or few times was not like completely true. I think he got the point but i just dont want it to be invalid.
