I wonder if any of you are having the same problem as I am. We had a penitential service on Wednesday. I’m a senior and because of r ending driving and also problems parking was unable to go. Yesterday I went, but the priest never showed up despite the fact we had about 10 penitents there. About 10 minutes before I saw him walking around the area but never came in. I am not in a state of serious sin, but felt I needed to go before Easter. Ironically, in his homily he stressed the need to go to Confession perhaps the next Saturday.
We have two priests in our parish but I’ve never seen both of them hearing Confessions on Saturdsy. I’m trying not to be uncharitible, but since Pope Francis seems to stress Confession I’m wondering why priests don’t seem to attemp to hear Confessions before the Masses if they’re too busy during the week. some in our area are from foreign countries and have a difficult time understanding them, so going to another parish us t always feasible.
I would love to see Confessions heard during the weekdays perhaps before Mass. I’m sure that sone Cathedrals do this but I’m not aware of parishes that do. I know they are so busy with other things, and I do pray for them, but we need them available sometimes for the good of our souls, as they alone can perform this Sacrament.
