Confession today or tomorrow?

I have commited a mortal sin today and really need to go to confession. I thought I had read somewhere that there are not any sacraments celebrated today. Does that include confession as well? Thanks and God bless

I think you will find that your biggest problem will be FINDING a priest offering the opportunity for confessions either today or tomorrow.

It’s not so much that confession is not permitted today as that priests are often very busy with other things. I’m not saying that this will be the case in your parish. But it’s just been my experience that you may have to look beyond your own parish.

I think many churches at least try to keep their normal confession schedule during this time, as well as try to offer additional oppurtunities this time of year.

I know my church customarily offers confession for an hour in the afternoon on Good Friday (right now to be exact) as well as the normally scheduled time on Saturday. Another church nearby (the closest one to my house) has offered confessions every day this week (expect Tuesday) in addition to their normally scheduled time.

It’s just a case of doing some looking around.

Somehow word got out that we can’t have confessions on Good Friday or Holy Saturday. That’s not in any way true

Search around, if all else fails, ask the priest.

Print this off, while you’re at it, in case he says he’s not allowed.

I know mine is having confessions 8:30 PM today and 4:30 PM tomorrow. If everything is as usual, at least 3 will be manned.
