confession?

Should we go to confession when we just sinned venialy. not mortaly.
say i sinned a venial sin. Should I go to confession? its easy because im at highschool and I can go every morning. should i go over venial sins just right away? or should I always confess sins before mass? i could. I am more looking for “what would Jesus want me to do” type of awnser.
 
Dear Minigerbel,
Since it is so convienient for you to go, why not?Ask Father what he thinks.It never hurts to recieve the grace of confession.I’m Jesus would want to see you doing your best to please our Father.You should beware of being too scrupulous,though,but I’m sure Father would be more than willing to help with that too.God Bless you!

umm not sure what you meant. it is convieniant every day. in the morning it is. im at high school. ya i like confession. its graceFull
 
We are under no obligation to confess venial sins - we are however quite free to do so if we should wish - to confess all sin including venial brings Grace to overcome them in future…it also gives our confessor insight into our spiritual state and disposition. And the strength to avoid all sin in the future. Always a good move to confess even venial sins, I think, while we are under no obligation to do so…Blessings - Barb:)

thank you for (name removed by moderator)ut.I think I understand more. I think I might try a once a week aproach. or something. such a nice grace to be able to do every day 🙂
 
If it’s been a couple of days for me (7 or 8) and a priest is in the confessional, i’ll definitely go in there! I explain that i am doing well in my battle with serious sin, and that i’m in there for some extra graces. Usually things come up in my life that i realize i wasnt’ even doing!

Frequent confession is a blessing!

For mortal sins we must go to Confession but it is also recommended even if its only for venial sins. Its good to get into the habit of confessing and remember persistent venial sins might lead at some stage to mortal sins.

Frequent confession is an excellent move … and to the same priest is another. This way our confessor can get to know us. I have been to Confession too and simply said “Father, I dont know what to say” and Father has helped me with my Confession. It is indeed a Sacrament of Mercy … much does depend on the priest and I am glad The Holy Father is addressing the matter of priests and Confession. Some penitents have had adverse experiences in Confession, but I tend to think compared to the overall they are in the minority … hope so! Regular Confession to the same priest can help us too to get to know our confessor, sometimes in our day and age they are overworked and stressed because of it. Keeping our priests in daily prayer.

Pardon beforehand the liberal use of the vernacular but,…confession is a square deal. 🙂

It is an inexhaustable source of renewable grace. I personally try to go to confession every week just before mass.

Confession is also the way we (catholics) contribute to the sanctity of our priests. A good holy piest will be found behind the altar, in the confessional, visiting the sick/dying or studying scriptures.
We as catholics should be knocking the doors of the church down asking for confession.
Remember, Every sin, venial or mortal is a true offense to God. A venial sin can become mortal if it is commited with the full awarenes and consent of the will, and knowledge of the intellect.

The moment in which I think that I haven’t sinned…I have already sinned of pride.

ONLY if it is also objectively grave matter. A venial sin of non-grave matter is also committed with full awareness, knowledge of the intellect and consent of the will.
As proviously noted, habitual venial sins CAN lead to mortal sin, not become mortal sin.

Would it be “objectively grave” if someone said, " I know this is an offense to God,…oh well, its only a venial sin and besides I can always go to confession". (?)
