Emad, are you going to refute the article about the rape?
It is not rape, this issue was discussed numerous times on the WhyIslam forum, if you sincerely seek an answer, go there and you will find it. Also I am reporting all off topic posts to the admins.Emad, are you going to refute the article about the rape?
Did you read the article on confession I put the link on? I’m still wondering why you’re so interested in this topic anyway. The word in Arabic is Ru’b, it doesn’t mean terror as in physicat terrorism, it is used to mean they fear and are terrified of the Muslims in their hearts. This word is used in the Quran numerous times to refer to the fear in their hearts, never is it used to mean anything physical. Also this is off topic. Let’s stay on topic. If you wish to discuss Islam, I told you where you can find your answers, if you are indeed truly looking for them.

No I didn’t read it, I don’t like links, but I will go back and read it when I find time. Is there something wrong with me being interested in this topic? It seems many here are against questioning.Did you read the article on confession I put the link on? I’m still wondering why you’re so interested in this topic anyway.

According to our beliefs, Jesus WAS God and He still acknowledge the authority of the sinful pharisies when it came to matters of faith even when calling them a brood of vipers for their own sinful actions.Sir Knight:
Yes, but it doesn’t make sense to me for obvious reasons I mentioned before. We are humans and wouldn’t except anyone evil to represent us, why would God when He is has a greater right of being represented by good people.I answered this a few says ago. It isn’t the person of the priest but the office of the priest that is representative of God just as in the Bible we see Jesus telling the people to do as the Pharisies SAY but not as they DO. Jesus recognized the sinfulness of the Pharisies as individuals but acknowledged the office that they held.
Same logic applies to the office of the priesthood.
Scripture tells us that even the pious man sins seven times a day.I don’t get your question, however as Muslims we believe Prophets aren’t sinners. They make mistakes, but they don’t sin, especially major sins. That is a different subject in itself. So God chose those who had no sins, ie prophets, everyone else is a sinner and can’t fully represent God on earth.
Well, the OP stated a special interest in the views of Protestants on the question of confession to priests. So, my guess is that some are wondering why a Muslim is active on the thread. No I didn’t read it, I don’t like links, but I will go back and read it when I find time. Sorry I will leave this thread, won’t post in it anymore. So, my guess is that some are wondering why a Muslim is active on the thread.
Since the Op was one of the people actively involved in Answering Emad’s questions, I fail to see where the problem lies.Well, the OP stated a special interest in the views of Protestants on the question of confession to priests. The only reason I said that is because you seemed more interested in bringing up the sex abuse scandals than in really learning about the sacrament of penance! No I didn’t read it, I don’t like links, but I will go back and read it when I find time. yes, your correct… and men in that verse doesn’t mean the priest but all of us.John 20:23 Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.
James 5:16 16 Confess therefore your sins one to another: and pray one for another, that you may be saved. For the continual prayer of a just man availeth much.
In both of these passages, we see that Jesus gives men the power to forgive sins. He goes on further to say that if we confess sins to each other and then pray for each other, that salvation awaits.
Why do it? Well, Jesus tells us to do so. What is the point of it? To repent of our sins and sin no more.
I disagree with you there. You see, in that passage, Jesus is talking to his priests…the disciples. And, through apostolic succession, the priests here with us today are decedents of those great men.yes, your correct… and men in that verse doesn’t mean the priest but all of us.
SDAgirl said:“I absolve you from your sins in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Matthew 9:2 Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, HE said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer. Your sins are forgiven you”
v.3 And at once the scribes said within themselves, THIS MAN BLASPHEMES.
v.6 But that you may know that the SON OF MAN has power on earth to forgive sins.
