Anybody ever did into this classic? Whoa, what was this guy smoking? This is very heavy stuff for 390 A.D.

What is time?
What is formless (as in creation, in Genesis)?

As soon as Augustine started thinking about “formless” he could not help thinking about something that had form. What could God be telling us about the earth being “formless”?

If God created time, then can we ask the question, what did God do before creation, if there was not even time?

I’m reading a public library copy that has been on the shelf for 50 years. It is well worn- on the outside. But, inside, it doesn’t look like it’s ever been touched. It’s in pristine condition.

come on Crumpy there were no playstations then; no ipods, no Tv so it was either that or Sex and Tbh i’m guessing Augustine seen enough of that 😃

I read it in a college class and remember loving those final chapters - the chapter on time specifically, I think. I should reread those again. 🙂

… we read a lot of neo-platonism in that class, if I remember correctly. Plotinus - and Origen. Those were good times.
